Dr Vassiliki Simoglou, PhD. – Counseling Psychologist in Dubai
Dr Vassiliki Simoglou is a Counseling Psychologist based in Dubai, licensed to practice Psychology in Europe. She has worked as a therapist in the private sector in Greece and France for over 10 years. Currently, through Moving Forward Counseling Services in Dubai, she offers counseling and psychological support services in English, French and Greek.
She moved to Dubai in 2015, after having lived in France for 8 years and in the UK for one year. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Strasbourg in France, a Master’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Strasbourg during which she also started her personal analysis, another Master’s degree specializing in depression and melancholia from the University of Essex in the UK, and a PhD in Psychoanalysis from the Sorbonne Paris Cité – Paris Diderot University in France, dealing with female infertility and egg donation In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) issues. In parallel, she has been teaching Psychology in undergraduate and graduate levels for more than 6 years, as a Lecturer at the University Sorbonne Paris Cité – Paris Diderot, as well as American Universities holding campuses in Athens, namely the University of Indianapolis, the State University of New York – Empire State College and the University of Greenwich – UK, in New York College Athens.
Her counseling approach is psychodynamic: in her work, she strives to help individuals and couples increase awareness of their symptoms and aspirations. This exploration helps alleviate psychological suffering and aims at achieving higher self-esteem and a generalized sense of well-being. Bearing a personalized approach which addresses the needs of each patient, her services include individual counseling, couples’ therapy, family therapy, counseling for adolescents, online counseling sessions (via Skype), and counseling with an emphasis on infertility.
Her fields of expertise extend beyond her Doctoral research and cover the issues of femininity, motherhood, mother-daughter relationship, parenthood in face of the new reproductive techniques, pregnancy, post-partum challenges, contemporary family, gender, etc. She is also experienced in the treatment of depression and melancholia, loss, bereavement and separation, anxiety and panic attacks, phobias and compulsive behaviors, pain and other symptoms of physical discomfort, social withdrawal and adaptation issues, etc.
