Dr Vassiliki Simoglou, PhD. – Counseling Psychologist in Dubai

Dr Vassiliki Simoglou is a Counseling Psychologist based in Dubai, licensed in Greece (Europe) and Dubai through the Community Development Authority (CDA). She has worked as a therapist in Kavala, Athens, Paris and Dubai for more than 14 years. Currently, through Thrive Wellbeing Center by Dr Sarah Rasmi in Dubai JLT, she offers individual counseling, psychotherapy and psychological support services for adults, adolescents, families and couples. Her services are offered in English, French and Greek in person in Dubai and online (via Skype).

She is a Greek national who moved to Dubai in 2015, after having lived in France for 8 years and in the UK for one year. She holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Strasbourg in France. She also holds another Master’s degree specializing in depression and melancholia from the University of Essex in the UK, and a PhD in Psychoanalysis from the Sorbonne Paris Cité – Paris Diderot University in France, dealing with female infertility and egg donation In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) issues.

In parallel, she has been teaching Psychology in undergraduate and graduate levels since 2011, as a Lecturer at the University Sorbonne Paris Cité – Paris Diderot, as well as American Universities holding campuses in Athens, namely the University of Indianapolis, the State University of New York – Empire State College and the University of Greenwich – UK, in New York College Athens. In Dubai, she has been a lecturer at the University of Wollongong in Dubai and an assistant Professor in Zayed University.

Her therapeutic approach is psychodynamic: Dr Vassiliki Simoglou believes that there is more to a problem than meets the eye; what is explicit in a dysfunctional situation is only the visible part of an iceberg, the rest of it being unconscious, waiting to be unveiled and worked through. Bearing a personalized approach which addresses the subjective needs and desires of each patient, she strives to help individuals and couples increase awareness of their internal functioning. Through an in-depth exploration of the patient’s symptoms and behaviors, this exploration has life-long positive effects: it helps understand and alleviate psychological suffering, since it operates both on conscious but also unconscious levels. It finally aims to achieve self-knowledge, together with an overall sense of well-being. You can read more about Dr Vassiliki’s work here.
